From the chemical structure, PMMA is a linear polymer with a large number of ester groups in the molecular chain. These ester groups make PMMA have good optical properties, weather resistance and chemical stability. Its molecular chain is relatively regular, low crystallinity, usually amorphous.
PMMA plastic is generally colorless and transparent, with extremely high transparency, and the light transmittance can reach about 92%, which exceeds the light transmittance of ordinary glass, and light rarely scatters when passing through, and has good optical clarity. Its density is about 1.18 - 1.20g/cm³, much lighter than glass, light weight and high strength, high surface hardness, not easy to be scratched, but the impact resistance is relatively weak. At the same time, it also has good chemical resistance, can resist the erosion of a variety of chemical substances, such as general acid, alkali, etc., but soluble in some organic solvents, such as chloroform, acetone and so on.
